Cool Buck is an old-school video slot from Microgaming that many players may remember from when the game developer first began launching games for the online market.

Initially, Cool Buck was designed using a 3-reel format… but Cool Buck – the revamped version – is a brand-new release from the software provider, and it’s set to be one of their most popular games yet, thanks to its exciting and intuitive game dynamics and mechanics.

The game resolves around money, and you’ll see the new version of the game features 10 pay lines and 5 reels. Quite a step-up from the old-school version!

The symbols on the reels include traditional playing card symbols, including Ten, Jack, Queen, King, and Ace – which of course, make up the lower-paying symbols – and the higher-paying symbols include a Golden Dollar Sign, a Stack of Cash, and a Triple Green Bar, the higher paying symbol.

There’s also a wild symbol, which is represented by a logo – “Cool Buck” – and this appears stacked on reels three and four during the main base game and all reels in the bonus. We’ll cover details about the bonus round in the following section.

Game Features

There are two ways of triggering the free spins bonus round within Cool Buck, and the first way is to land three, four, or five of the Cool Buck scatter symbols anywhere in view during the main base game itself. The scatter symbols don’t need to be lined up or on a winning pay line, ensuring it’s a little easier to land than some of Microgaming’s other games!

You can also trigger the bonus round by collecting 30 or more pink stars, which occasionally land on the reels. When you do so, you’ll see them added to a tally on the right-hand side of your screen. And once you’ve collected 30, you’ll trigger the bonus.

During the free spins, you’ll initially be awarded a certain number of spins depending on how many of the pink stars you’ve collected. So, if you’ve collected 15, and the spins land naturally, you’ll be awarded 15 free spins.

During the bonus, all wins you manage to make are subject to a 2x multiplier, meaning, for example, that a €50 win would be worth €100 in the free spins bonus round – and while it’s one of the lower multipliers, we’ve seen during a free spins bonus round, it’s worth pointing out that it’s by far one of the most generous in terms of wins landing. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to re-trigger the free spins, although this generally isn’t an issue, thanks to the fact that you often win quite a lot, so it’s not too much of a problem.
