Now, we know what you’re thinking, Zombie aPOPalypse is another slot game from niche development team AvatarUX that includes the PopWins mechanic. And, it wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing because the PopWins system is fun. However, AvatarUX wants to mix things up, so they introduce MultiPop in this one.

AvatarUX do stick with an approach they’re renowned for, and that’s getting to grips with themes that they know will be a big hit with players. And, as the title of this release suggests, there are going to be plenty of zombies around in Zombie aPOPalypse.

It’d be very easy for AvatarUX to convey the theme via the icons on the reels alone. Still, it’s the backdrop of the game that is most eye-catching, showing off a dreary downtown location infected by the undead.

One thing is for sure when spinning the five reels of Zombie aPOPalypse, blood and gore is very much front and centre, as seen by the buttons scattered around the game area and the handy meter that keeps track of how many paylines are active, with this number topping out at 6,250, which isn’t bad at all, especially when you consider there are some icons that can deliver good prizes when five of a kind appear across one of the said paylines.

Game Features

We mentioned above how there is no PopWins system in Zombie aPOPalypse, and there isn’t. But, there is still the cascade mechanic, so when winning icons pay out, they will be replaced by new ones, which can lead to chains of wins being formed.

We also mentioned that the MultiPop system has been introduced, which links into the above in a significantly advantageous manner. When winning icons are removed from the game area, their replacements will come with a multiplier attached.

The multipliers start at 1x, but if that icon is then involved in a winning combo and replaced again, the next multiplier will rise by 1x. The highest a multiplier can climb to 5x, which means the MultiPop mechanic provides some excellent winning potential.

So, you’re more than likely thinking that the MultiPop system sounds good. But what if we told you that if a multiplier does reach 5x, then between four and twelve more icons on the reels will see their multipliers increase by 1x? \It’s another nice inclusion by AvatarUX that takes the base mechanic and adds to it further.

There is a free spins round, too, with three or more scatters capable of netting up to fifteen free spins.

As usual, players can gamble their initial free spins for more, and during the free rounds, multipliers see their limit raised to 10x. It’s the bonus round with the most winning potential.
