Rise of Ymir Slot Review – Demo, RTP & Features

Norse mythology has always been a huge draw for slot developers. We’ve seen many slots based on Odin, Thor, Loki, or the myth of Valhalla. We rarely see slots based on any of the jotnar (giants), until Hacksaw Gaming decided to come forth with Rise of Ymir slot game.

The slot’s action occurs on a 5×4 grid with epic symbols that represent some of the god warriors in Norse mythology.

You’ll see Odin, Thor, Vili, and Ve, ready to slay the giant Ymir with their axes and swords. Ymir’s ominous presence in the background is highlighted by his glowing eyes, and the whole atmosphere is heighted by the war drums that drive the soundtrack. It’s a unique and brooding atmosphere, prophesizing a battle to the death.

Odin and Thor are the highest-paying symbols on the reels. You need three or more matching symbols on one of the 14 pay-lines for a win. A wild is there to link wins together, but it also triggers respins that only stop when there’s no wild involved. Ymir wild multipliers and mega multipliers add another layer of entertainment to the fun.

While the base game itself can be lucrative and fun to play, the real surprises come in the bonus rounds. Two of them offer higher chances of wilds appearing on the grid, while the top-tier free spins round comes with mega multipliers for mega wins.

Game Features

There are three distinct free spins features in the Rise of Ymir online slot. They’re triggered by the bonus symbols. What you get depends on the number of bonus symbols that trigger each feature.

Dawn of Gods: land three bonus symbols to trigger this bonus with ten free spins. The Dawn of Gods bonus plays just like the base game, but with extra Ymir wilds added to the reels and higher Ymir wild multipliers than the base game.

Fury of Ymir: four scatters trigger this bonus, which starts with ten free spins once again. A mega multiplier is persistent throughout the round and its value doesn’t reset between spins. Landing two or three scatters awards two and four extra spins, respectively.

Fall of Ymir: the top-tier bonus is triggered by five scatters and starts with three respins. It plays out like a Hold & Win feature, where non-dead symbols on the grid reset the respins tally. The Volcanic Ymir symbol lands with values of 1x-100x and turns sticky.

Mega multipliers can collect these symbols, awarding their multiplier value as well. Asgardian orbs can also land on the grid, increasing the value of all multiplier symbols.
