Freya 1000 Slot Review – Demo, RTP & Features

The frozen landscapes of Norse mythology provide the setting for Freya 1000, an online slot from Pragmatic Play that places one of Scandinavia’s most celebrated goddesses at the centre of a traditional reel game with some powerful modern features.

Surrounded by snow-covered settlements, icy mountains and the Northern Lights, Freya presides over a world where ancient legends meet cash prizes and potentially enormous multipliers.

Rather than following the increasingly elaborate designs found in many contemporary slots, Freya 1000 slot game takes a more restrained approach.

Its 5-reel, 3-row layout and 10 fixed paylines give the game a distinctly old-fashioned character, supported by familiar symbols such as Viking ships, drinking horns, wolves and Nordic jewellery.

The gameplay, however, introduces several opportunities beyond ordinary payline wins. Money Symbols award instant cash prizes, while Wheel Symbols can deliver additional rewards, multipliers or access to Free Spins and Super Free Spins. The latter introduces a persistent multiplier system capable of transforming relatively modest wins into considerably larger payouts.

Despite the 1000 in its title, Freya 1000 is not a remake of an earlier game. Instead, Pragmatic Play combines a nostalgic presentation with a selection of bonus mechanics that have become increasingly common across modern online slots.

With high volatility, a maximum win of 10,000x the stake and a default RTP of 96.50%, Freya 1000 offers considerable payout potential. Alternative RTP settings of 95.50% and 94.50% are also available, while bets range from €0.20 to €240 per spin.

Game Features

Freya 1000 slot keeps its basic gameplay relatively simple, concentrating most of its additional excitement around Money Symbols and the Bonus Wheel. These mechanics provide instant rewards during regular spins and introduce increasingly valuable multipliers during the bonus rounds.

Wild Symbol

Freya herself appears as the game’s Wild symbol. Wilds substitute for all regular paying symbols, helping complete winning combinations across the 10 fixed paylines. They can appear on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5, but not on the leftmost reel.

Wilds do not replace Money Symbols or Wheel Symbols, which operate independently from the regular paytable.

The standard paying symbols include card ranks from 10 to Ace, alongside themed icons such as drinking horns, necklaces, bears, wolves and Viking longships and the winning combinations require at least three matching symbols on consecutive reels, beginning with the first reel.

Money Symbols

Money Symbols provide an additional way to collect prizes without forming conventional payline combinations. These symbols appear as coloured shields carrying cash values expressed as multipliers of the selected stake.

Possible values range from 0.25x to 40x the bet, with each Money Symbol paying its displayed amount whenever it lands. The available values include 0.25x, 0.5x, 0.75x, 1x, 2.5x, 3x, 3.75x, 4.5x, 5x, 7.5x, 12x and 40x.

Unlike collector-based slots, Freya 1000 does not require another special symbol to activate these prizes.

Money Symbols award their values directly, making them an important source of additional payouts during regular gameplay.

Money Symbol Nudges

The Money Symbol mechanic includes a random reel movement feature. When one or two Money Symbols appear on the same reel, that reel may randomly nudge upwards or downwards to reveal additional Money Symbols.

The movement can fill the entire reel with Money Symbols, increasing the number of cash prizes awarded.

During the base game, this effect is not guaranteed, meaning some Money Symbols pay their values without activating a nudge.

The mechanic becomes more reliable during the bonus rounds, where reels containing Money Symbols always nudge to fill the available positions.

Bonus Wheel

The Bonus Wheel is the central feature of Freya 1000. Whenever a Wheel Symbol lands, it activates a prize wheel that awards one of several possible rewards.

Each Wheel Symbol visible on the reels provides its own wheel result.

The available prizes include:

• Cash Prizes: 5x, 8x or 20x the stake.
• Win Multipliers: x5, x8, x15, x25, x100 or x1,000.
• Free Spins: 6 regular Free Spins.
• Super Free Spins: 6 or 12 Super Free Spins.

Cash prizes are awarded directly, while multipliers increase qualifying wins from the current spin.

The possibility of receiving a x1,000 multiplier gives the Wheel feature considerable potential, although the largest outcomes are naturally much less common than ordinary rewards. The Wheel also replaces the traditional Scatter-based bonus trigger, making it the gateway to both Free Spins modes.

Free Spins

Regular Free Spins are awarded when the Bonus Wheel lands on the corresponding feature prize. The round begins with 6 Free Spins and introduces improvements to the Money Symbol and Wheel mechanics.

Whenever at least one Money Symbol appears on a reel, that reel automatically nudges until it is completely filled with Money Symbols. This guarantees additional cash symbols on qualifying reels, creating more opportunities to collect instant prizes.

Money Symbols can also randomly transform into symbols awarding 3 additional Free Spins after their original cash values have been paid.

The Wheel feature changes during the bonus as well. Instead of awarding the same selection of base game prizes, Wheel Symbols provide multipliers ranging from x2 to x1,000.

Possible values include x2, x3, x4, x5, x6, x8, x10, x12, x15, x20, x25, x50, x100, x250, x500 and x1,000. When several Wheel Symbols appear during the same spin, their multiplier values are added together.

The combined multiplier is then applied to the qualifying win from that spin. However, the multiplier does not carry over to subsequent spins during the regular Free Spins round.

Super Free Spins

Super Free Spins use the same core mechanics as the regular bonus, but introduce a significant improvement to the multiplier system. The feature can award either 6 or 12 Super Free Spins, depending on the triggering Wheel result.

Money Symbols continue to benefit from guaranteed reel nudges, while additional spins can be awarded through the special Money Symbol transformation.

The main difference concerns Wheel multipliers. Whenever a Wheel Symbol awards a multiplier, its value is added to a persistent Total Multiplier that remains active throughout the bonus round.

Unlike regular Free Spins, where the multiplier applies only to the current spin, Super Free Spins preserve the accumulated value between spins. This allows the Total Multiplier to increase as additional Wheel Symbols appear.

The accumulated multiplier applies to qualifying wins when at least one Wheel Symbol lands during a spin. As a result, Super Free Spins offer greater potential for building large multiplier values across several spins, particularly when multiple Wheel Symbols appear throughout the feature.

Feature Buy

Freya 1000 includes three optional feature purchases, allowing players to enter the bonus rounds without waiting for a qualifying Wheel result.

The standard Free Spins purchase provides access to guaranteed Money Symbol nudges and Wheel multipliers.

The Super Free Spins options introduce the persistent Total Multiplier, with the more expensive purchase offering twice as many starting spins. Although these purchases provide direct access to the features, they do not guarantee profitable results.

Availability may vary depending on the casino and local regulations.
