Battle of Rome is a video slot from Arrow’s Edge that’s set in the ancient Roman Empire – and while it’s not one of the game developer’s most popular or successful slot releases, it’s a game well-worth checking out – especially if you’re new to the developer and want something a bit different to try out.

Battle of Rome is set right in the heart of the battle of Rome, and you’ll be playing on a 5X5 grid; there are 3125 ways-to-win – active on each spin, so you don’t need to worry about conventional paylines, as is so often the case in video slots today.

In terms of symbols, the game developer has opted to use playing card values, including 10, jack, queen, king, and ace for the low-paying icons; you will also notice that a nine has been included. These low-value symbols pay up to 300 coins for a 5-of-a-kind combo, so the payouts aren’t half bad!

When it comes to the higher-paying symbols, you’ll find Gladiator Helmets, Crossed Swords, and the Colosseum symbol as the highest-paying ones. If you manage to form a 5-of-a-kind combo of the latter, you’ll be awarded a whopping payout of 1,000 coins!

Game Features

During the base game, wild symbols appear on reels two, three, and four. They don’t do anything special, but they do substitute for all other symbols in the game, bar the scatter symbols. If you manage to land four of the special bonus symbols, you’ll trigger the Legatus Legionis Bonus. This will award you an instant cash prize – although it’s not clear how much this prize can be worth.

There’s also a free spins bonus round, which is triggered by landing 3, 4, or 5 of the scatter symbols anywhere in view. Doing so will award you 5, 10, or 15 free spins respectively – and during the free spins bonus round, it’s possible to re-trigger more free spins. There’s no limit on the number of free spins that can be won.
