Ghost in the Shell slot - Free Play - Game Review

Ghost in the Shell
Ghost in the Shell Rated 0/5 based on 0 votes

Ghost in the Shell is a video slot from Section 8 Studios, and as you may already know from the name - if you’re a fan of Japanese manga - the slot is, of course, based around the Ghost in the Shell series of novels, TV shows, and films - highly-popular in the Asian world.

While the brand has never really found levels of popularity in Western worlds, the creators of this video slot decided to give it a go anyway - and in all fairness, they’ve done a pretty good job in creating a slot that’s both fun to play, and that honours a type of culture many find fascinating.

Keep reading this review to learn more about the game, and what it has to offer.

You’ll notice that the symbols in the game are quite varied, and alongside the low-values ones (which are made up of playing card values, 10, Jack, Queen, King, and Ace), there’s also a number of game specific symbols, which are all actually characters from the novels - there’s 5 in total, and these are the symbols you’ll want to aim for, as they’re the highest-paying.

Ghost in the Shell offers two different bonuses, and we’ll look at both of these below.

The first, is a pick me bonus, which is triggered by landing one of the two highest-paying symbols on the first reel, and fifth reel at the same time.

Once you do so, you get to pick one of the symbols that appears on your screen, for an instant cash prize.

Now, the second bonus round - and arguably the more lucrative of the two - is the free-spins round, and this is triggered by landing 3, 4, or 5 of the scatter symbols anywhere in view.

Once you do so, you’ll be awarded either 10, 20, or 30 free-spins, and during the free-spins it’s also possible to re-trigger even more free-spins, by landing yet another 3, 4, or 5 of the scatter symbols anywhere in view.

Now, there’s also a progressive jackpot attached to this game, and you can view the current jackpot from the left-hand-side of the screen.

The jackpot is awarded completely randomly - there’s no bonus for it, nothing like that - and on any spin, it can randomly be awarded. (Note that playing at higher stakes increases the likelihood of winning the jackpot.)

Pros: The inclusion of a progressive jackpot makes for extremely exciting gameplay on each and every spin!

Cons: The game’s audio soundtrack gets quite annoying, so you may want to consider turning your speakers down if you’re planning on playing for a while!
