The Golden Owl of Athena slot - Free Play - Game Review
The Golden Owl of Athena is an Ancient-Greek-themed video slot from Betsoft, and while the theme is far-from original (we’ve seen almost all game developers offer a slot set in Ancient Greece), Betsoft manage to put their own unique 3D spin on the slot - which, as is the case with most of their slots - is pulled off perfectly.
While it’s a little bit strange to see an Owl used as the game’s main caricature, Betsoft have managed to pull off the slot fantastically, and you’ll see from the very first moment you load it up that the graphics are presented in crisp, stunning HD.
The symbols you’ll find within the game are all varied, and include playing card values, including 10, jack, queen, king, and ace - the game’s lower-paying symbols - and the higher-paying symbols are all game specific symbols, and include the Owl, along with a selection of other greek-like icons.
As with most of Betsoft’s slots, The Golden Owl of Athena uses a free-spins bonus as its main free-spins round.
In order to trigger the feature, you’ll need to land 3, 4, or 5 of the scatter symbols anywhere in view - and once you’ve managed to do so, you’ll find yourself granted either 20, 30, or 40 free-spins.
The more scatter symbols you land the more free-spins you’re awarded.
During the free-spins feature, all wins you manage to make are doubled, thanks to the 2X multiplier, and it’s also possible to re-trigger even more free-spins, by landing yet another 3, 4, or 5 of the scatter symbols anywhere in view.
Pros: The Golden Owl of Athena is well-made, easy-to-play, and the payouts are pretty decent in the base-game, too!
Cons: The free-spins feature is quite hard to trigger, so just be aware of this before you decide to session the slot chasing the bonus.
